For Texas House District 29
PRESS RELEASE
Representative Mike O'Day today announced that he will not seek reelection to the Texas House of Representatives. Rep. O'Day served our district by defending our constitutional rights; worked to expand our economy by creating jobs; and voted to support our conservative values. I salute Mike O'Day's service to our state and community and wish him and his family all the best.
In view of Rep. O'Day's retirement, I wanted you to be one of the first to know that I will be running for the Republican nomination for Texas State Representative in District 29.
I'm a husband of 30+ years, father of three and grandfather of three. I believe family forms the rock-solid foundation for our community and country.
I'm a Christian who keeps God at the center of my life because I understand the sacrifice his Son made for me and for all mankind. I'm pro-life, pro-family and pro-traditional marriage. I believe public service is a public trust and that every elected leader should have a servant's heart.
I'm a small businessman who started my business from scratch and knows what it's like to be over-taxed and over-regulated. I also believe in tort reform because jackpot justice lawsuits can put business out of business.
I'm a conservative who believes government is too big, spends too much and wastes too much of your hard-earned money. I want you to keep more of what you earn by providing tax relief to families and businesses. I support lower property taxes because no family or business should be taxed out of existence by government. I also believe it's time for government to stand up for the rule of law by securing our borders and ending illegal immigration.
I'm an active Republican who has served as an election judge, Lincoln Day Dinner Chairman, Senatorial District Permanent Chairman (three times), and I recently served as Senatorial District 11 Chair and County Commissioner Precinct 3 Chair. I was also elected by my fellow Republicans as a delegate to the Texas Republican Convention on several occasions. Working with Dolly Edge in 1991, I helped create "Fun-Fest" in Brazoria County which has raised tens of thousands of dollars for the Brazoria County Republican Party and its candidates.
I'm your neighbor. I've lived in this community my entire life and care about our jobs, our security and our traditional way of life. My wife, Brenda has been a public school teacher for over 20 years. I support schools of excellence and achievement and want more discipline in the classroom so teachers can teach and kids can learn.
I'm on your side. I will defend our traditional Texas values, limit the reach of government into our daily lives, and protect our families and businesses from over-taxation, over-regulation, and frivolous litigation.
